Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and the head of Meta, has been facing hard times due to the activities on their platform for a very long time. The effects of Facebook, which has been widely discussed with what it did and did not do, were even the subject of court.
Since then, Zuckerberg, who has not participated in broadcasts whose text is not known before, surprisingly became a guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast program. Rogan is known to be a frequent contributor to controversial podcasts and does not prepare any scripts in advance.
The restrictions were due to FBI warnings.
The New York Post was helping his son deal with Ukraine in emails allegedly leaked from the laptop of Hunter Biden, son of Joe Biden, who is serving as US President today. Biden was the vice president of the United States at the time.
Facebook and Twitter restricted the sharing of this article. For this reason, both platforms were accused of censorship. Zuckerberg called this misunderstanding of the situation “annoying”.
“It bothers me a lot to know that this decision was wrong. We did something we shouldn’t have done, and that’s the worst thing.” Zuckerberg said, citing the warnings from the FBI as the reason for restricting the article. The New York Post article was published a few weeks before the US presidential election. In those elections, Joe Biden won the right to become the President of the USA by defeating Donald Trump.
According to The New York Post’s article, this information was revealed when Hunter Biden gave his computer for repair. It was claimed that Joe Biden’s meeting with some energy giants in Ukraine was arranged. On the other hand, the fact that Biden did not have such a meeting at that time and that only one newspaper could access this data was suspicious. According to Zuckerberg’s statements, the FBI thought that Russian propaganda played an important role in the 2016 elections and asked them to be careful. Facebook also decided to restrict this article because it showed similarities to the mentioned propaganda processes. Yet the article continues to be debated even today.
