Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that while using Instagram and Facebook, the company will more than double the amount of content from recommended accounts by the end of 2023. He noted that these referrals currently make up only 15 percent of content on Facebook and are already higher on Instagram.

This breakthrough, which Zuckerberg calls the establishment of the “Discovery Engine,” represents a rather radical departure from Facebook and Instagram’s past of showing posts from a user’s social groups or friends list. This exchange is intended to compete with TikTok’s heavy use of AI to show users videos from different sources.
