Threads is getting more and more deserted
According to a statement from Mark Zuckerberg, Threads experienced a significant decrease in the number of users after its release. More than half of Threads’ users stopped using the text-based app within weeks of its release. Mark Zuckerberg said that although the retention rate was better than expected, it was “not perfect”. He considered this drop to be normal and said he expects retention to increase as more features like desktop access and search are added.
“If over 100 million people signed up, ideally it would be great if all or half of them stayed. We are not at that point yet.”
Administrators are now focused on increasing user engagement on Threads. Meta’s chief product officer, Chris Cox, said they’re looking for “persistence-enhancing hooks” like viewing key Threads on Instagram to entice users to come back. Within seven days of its release, Threads has been downloaded more than 150 million times (iOS and Google Play combined). It reached this milestone 5.5 times faster than the second fastest app to do so. You also know the second app… ChatGPT.
