Love it or hate it, NFTs will soon be making their way into the Instagram world. Mark Zuckerberg has announced that digital collectibles will come to Instagram “soon”. Zuckerberg did not provide any information about the details, but stated that users can display the NFTs they have and produce new NFTs.
Other executives have already said that they are interested in NFTs before. Instagram’s chief executive Adam Mosseri said the company is “actively researching” the technology. The Financial Times reported in January that the company hopes to add NFTs to its crypto wallet, Novi.
Zuckerberg also thinks that NFTs may one day play a role in the company’s metaverse. “In the Metaverse it will be possible to stamp NFT the outfit your avatar is wearing and take it with you to different places,” he says.
