With the development of technology, mobile network infrastructures gain capability over time. Each new network technology brings advantages such as high speed and low latency. Now, ZTE has completed prototype tests of 6G, a new network standard.
ZTE participated in five different 6G tests
Participating in in-depth research on 6G in the laboratory environment, ZTE played an active role in the activities of the IMT-2030 (6G) Research Group working on 6G network technologies. Helping staff and financially, the company conducted concept tests.
Five different tests were carried out on 6G: technology integration, computing power, digital twin network concept, terahertz speed concept and smart wavelength concept.
As a result of the tests, the company announced that it had great results. For example, in the detection test, the signals received from the base station could be transmitted to the desired points separately. In other words, a signal could be sent directly to the test devices. In addition, the positions of the unmanned aerial vehicles used in the trials could be tracked instantly and accurately.
Even talking gigahertz (GHz) speeds sounds like a dream nowadays. However, terahertz (THz) tests also seem to have been successful in tests with 6G. The increase in band speeds will not only be an improvement in internet speeds. This development will support data transmission over longer distances in real-time use.
So when can we see 6G?
Nothing happens all of a sudden in technology, especially when it comes to connection technologies, it can take years to build a new network infrastructure. For example, although 4G technology was used for the first time in the world in 2009, it took 2019 for 5G to meet the user. Compared to other fields, network technologies require more cooperation between companies and even between countries.
Until 5G met the end user, European countries were ahead in network technologies. However, with the emergence of 5G, China took the lead. Former US President Donald Trump complained that American companies did not make an effort in this regard. As a result of all these events, US and European companies avoid doing business with Chinese companies. Although European states are also working on 6G technology, this disconnect in cooperation will delay the meeting of 6G with users.
