In the statements made by Apple, it was stated that a zero-day vulnerability affecting iPads as well as iPhones may have been exploited by hackers. “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively used.” The Web Kit-based zero-day vulnerability, in which the expressions were used, allowed arbitrary code to be run on smartphones and tablets.
