YouTube, the world’s most popular video and live broadcasting platform, offered a new feature for iPhone users. Within the scope of this feature, YouTube can be used as a widget on the home screen of iPhones and iPads. Let’s take a closer look at YouTube’s new feature together.
A few years ago, Apple brought the feature called widget to iPhones and iPads. Thus, users were able to add applications to the home screen of their phones. Google also seems to have taken this opportunity and prepared a new feature for the iOS ecosystem.
This is what YouTube widgets look like
Widgets created by YouTube for iOS can be used in two different ways. One of them is the detailed widget with 4 x 2 viewports. When users use this widget, they will be able to access the YouTube homepage, shorts videos and subscriptions. The widget with a 2 x 2 display area allows only searches. In summary, the feature in question does not offer more than ‘buttons’ that we can go directly to certain sections on YouTube without opening the application home page.
YouTube’s new feature can be experienced by iPhone and iPad owners who have installed the 17.40.5 coded version of the application. By the way; It should be noted that such a feature is not available in the Android ecosystem, which has been supporting widgets for years. So this feature is exclusive to iOS, at least for now.
