The competition between social media platforms is increasing day by day. Companies often offer new features to their users in order to attract more users and get ahead. One of these companies is YouTube, the world’s most popular video watching platform.
The platform has stepped up its efforts to compete with its biggest rival, TikTok. Finally, the company started working on two features that will help it stay ahead of the race. So, what are these innovations? Let’s take a look together.
YouTube Transcript Box feature
YouTube’s first feature, Transcript Box, which is in the testing phase, has actually been expected for a long time. Because some users were doing this themselves in the comments in order to get enough efficiency from the video. Sometimes we only need a small part of it while watching a video. But because the video is too long, we have to fast forward or speed it up.
Thanks to the Transcript Box, these problems will no longer be experienced, we will see which topic is at the bottom of the video at which minute and we will only watch that part. This may not be welcome for some YouTube creators because only a part of the video will be watched, not the entire video. It is thought that the function in the testing phase will be very useful.
Voiceover feature for Youtube Shorts
The social media giant had a great success with Shorts, which it released in July last year. Shorts were similar to TikTok videos. This situation increased the competition between them. The company also announced that it has allocated a $ 100 million fund to encourage its own content creators. The company is now testing the Voice Over feature to improve user experiences and capture more interaction.
Previously, only music from the YouTube Library section was added to Shorts videos. But now, specially recorded sounds will be added to the videos thanks to the Voice Over function. Specially added sounds will be edited together with the video in another application. This feature is currently disabled in the Android YouTube Beta. There is no announcement for beta users or when it will arrive.
