YouTube, which has been included in the latest news headlines with the new features it will add to the platform and the support it will provide to player YouTubers, has also continued its efforts to add new features to mobile devices in the past months. Trying to add the options offered to its users in ‘portrait mode’ while viewing full-screen videos in its mobile applications, YouTube aims to gradually expand this range.
Previous add-ons to the platform included features such as commenting and displaying the video description when in landscape mode. However, YouTube plans to add the ability to use the app on mobile devices as a shortcut, just like on a vertical screen, even when videos are in full screen.
Planned to be added to all Android devices:
As can be seen in the screenshot taken from the Samsung Galaxy Fold3 model phone above, there are shortcut versions of the ‘like, dislike, comment, add to playlist and share’ buttons that appear only in vertical screen mode at the bottom left of the screen. When you click on the title of the video, you can view the description section. Unlike the previous version, in order to view the suggested videos in the new feature, instead of swiping up the screen, it is necessary to press the part indicated by the arrow on the lower right.
The features that YouTube is expected to add permanently in the near future were initially thought to come only for phones with foldable or large screens. However, the latest information indicates that new features will be added to devices with all Android operating systems. As it is known, YouTube can try new features that it plans to add to the platform on a certain number of users and then give up. Therefore, it is not yet certain how the application developers will make a decision.
