The content of the video streaming platform YouTube is watched billions of times a day. Videos are available in different resolutions on the platform, which can be used both on the web and on the mobile application. Now, a new resolution option is being tested on the YouTube mobile front.
New resolution option for YouTube Premium subscribers
It turned out that YouTube is working on a new resolution option on the mobile application. The new resolution option called ‘1080p Premium’, which is stated to have ‘improved bitrate’, was shared by a Reddit user.
This new resolution, which can be preferred by YouTube Premium users, is positioned just above the 1080p option. It is thought that this new option has been added to meet the demands of users who want to watch videos in 1440p or 2160p resolution. Thus, it is aimed to eliminate the desire of users to watch high quality videos.
The fact that YouTube’s new resolution option came just after the resignation of CEO Susan Wojcicki is considered remarkable. We do not yet know whether this decision has been taken by the new CEO, Neil Mohan.
