YouTube introduced an artificial intelligence tool that clones famous singers. Google is also currently testing new generative AI features for YouTube that will allow people to create music tracks using just a text command or a simple humming tune. Dream Track, the first feature available to several creators on the platform, is designed to automatically create short 30-second musical tracks in the style of famous artists.

YouTube is preparing artificial intelligence music tools

According to the statement, the Dream Track feature can imitate nine different artists who choose to collaborate with YouTube. YouTube is also preparing new tools that can create musical tracks from a hum. On the other hand, this announcement comes as YouTube introduces new rules regarding artificial intelligence-generated music, while also maintaining its relationship with major music companies.

YouTube says the Dream Track feature is currently being tested with a small group of select US creators and can produce tracks in the style of nine artists; Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Papoose, Sia, T-Pain and Troye Sivan. According to the shared materials, it is shown how to create a piece in the style of Charlie Puth. The software can produce lyrics, background, and artificial intelligence-generated sound in the artist’s style. The aim is to use these tracks in conjunction with YouTube’s TikTok-style Shorts service. However, the path taken shows us a small slice of the future.

Apart from Dream Track, YouTube also showcased other Music AI Tools features designed to let you create music tracks, often without playing a traditional instrument. In a video demonstration, YouTube shows how the tool can create a saxophone track by combining a hummed melody with a “saxophone solo” text prompt. YouTube says participants in its Music AI incubator will be able to test these tools later this year.

Behind the scenes, these new artificial intelligence tools are powered by Google’s DeepMind company’s music production model called Lyria. Google subsidiary DeepMind says tracks created using Lyria will carry a SynthID watermark that is inaudible to the naked ear, so AI content can be detected.
