YouTube won’t make video recommendations
The popular video sharing platform shows recommendations based on watch history settings. In this context, YouTube viewers are familiar with the homepage feed full of thumbnails. However, with the latest update, the unnecessary complexity of the home page is gone. Instead of video suggestions, only the search bar and a menu with subscriptions, short videos and library shortcuts will be shown.
“Starting today, if your YouTube watch history is turned off and you don’t have any significant watch history before, features that require watch history (like your YouTube home feed) to provide video recommendations will be disabled. This means that starting today, your homepage feed will look very different. Without the suggested videos stream, you will see the search bar and the left menu. Thus, you will search more easily and browse the channels you have subscribed to.” says.
With the new update, YouTube aims to make the platform more fluid for users who find videos by searching instead of browsing video suggestions. YouTube also stated that users will see the changes in a few months.
