YouTube has closed more than 9,000 channels related to the Ukraine war

Now, YouTube has announced how many accounts it has closed related to the Ukraine war due to rule violation. According to the official statement, over 70,000 videos were blocked, while more than 9,000 channels were also closed.

YouTube, which has a large audience in Russia, has repeatedly blocked videos supporting Russians in the war. In addition, the company’s support of pro-Kremlin videos caused a lot of reaction from Russian citizens. Despite this, YouTube still continues to maintain its audience in Russia.

YouTube, which has blocked most channels since the beginning of the war, has blocked channels with important names such as pro-Kremlin journalist Vladimir Solovyovunk from the platform. On the other hand, some of the videos of channels connected with the Russian Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs were removed from the broadcast. Finally, among these videos was a video that the Russians described as a “liberation mission” and this content was suspended.

YouTube chief product officer Neal Mohan said:

“We have a massive violence policy, and that includes things like major violence denial: Sandy Hook from the Holocaust. “And of course, what happened in Ukraine is a major act of violence. We used this policy to take unprecedented action.” However, the official stressed that these often represent narratives such as the invasion of the Kremlin
