Google is reportedly testing a new system that determines whether the ad-blocking extension is enabled in the browser. If you have an ad blocker on your computer, YouTube will detect it and will not allow you to watch videos.
Two options are offered
A notification screen appears in front of those who use ad blockers. Here we see that users are given the option to disable the ad blocker or switch to a YouTube Premium subscription to watch ad-free videos.
“We are running a small experiment that urges viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium,” said a YouTube spokesperson. It looks like Google will start a large-scale fight against ad blockers in the future.
