To date, creators have had no option for post-editing of videos they upload on YouTube. The only thing that could be done in cases such as any incorrect statement in the video was noticed later or the information presented was out of date, was to delete the video and re-upload it.

Today, YouTube announced its new tool that will save content creators the hassle and loss of engagement. With the new feature called ‘Corrections’, content producers will be able to make the necessary corrections directly on YouTube without removing the video in any way. Of course, corrections will be made without adding or removing from the video.

Videos are receiving correction notes:

With this feature, content producers will be able to put correction notices in the form of notes at desired points in the video. The corrections added by the content producers will be shown to the viewers with the box appearing in the upper right corner while the video is playing. Viewers who press this box will be able to browse the correction notes left by the creator of the video.

Revisions feature can of course not be used just for revision notes as it can be used as notes. According to YouTube, creators will also have the opportunity to use the notes section to direct them to more up-to-date videos about the topics mentioned, which they upload to their channels.

Content producers will also be able to add editing to the video quite simply. To add an editing note to the video, it will be enough to put the phrase “Correction:” in the description of the video, write the note and place a timestamp.
