Earlier, we talked about ways to improve your phone’s battery health. While most of these options are already great, there’s another way your battery can go longer without needing a charge. So how will you do this? It all depends on how you configure your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.
iPhones offer many different features that make your life easier. Some settings can search for open wireless networks and even notify you when available. This setting allows you to easily connect to open Wi-Fi networks, but has one major drawback; causes your phone to continuously search for these open networks throughout the day.
While it won’t drain your battery very quickly, using the “Ask to Join Networks” feature may drain your battery a bit. If you’re a user who spends most of your day with your phone screen on, you want to get as much energy as possible. By default, Apple has set the iPhone to notify you when an open network is available. However, you can turn it off to save power and improve your iPhone battery.
To turn off “Ask to Join Networks”, open your iPhone’s settings and go to Wi-Fi. From there, find this option under the “Other Networks” section. You should be able to see which setting is already on. If it’s not set to Off, tap the option and then select Off from the pop-up menu that appears. That said, disabling the feature will help your iPhone battery power longer.
Presumably this feature will also be included in the iPhone 15, which will be released later this year, so if you decide to get it after Apple releases its newest device, be sure to turn it off on your new device as well.
