Almost everyone has encountered people who can be described as “bad drivers” around them. This situation causes some undesirable results in traffic. Well, have you ever thought about why a person is a bad driver?

Although things such as lack of experience or carelessness are among the reasons, a new study reveals that a very interesting factor can be effective in this regard. According to a UK study by Scrap Car Comparison, it may be inherited that people are not good at driving.

Parents who are bad drivers can cause their children to be like that too

A study of 1,000 different drivers showed that our parents’ bad driving habits can affect us. According to the results of the survey, 66% of the drivers who violated the traffic laws in the last ten years had similar problems. Let’s add that the families of everyone participating in the research are aware of traffic violations.

On the other hand, while the penalty scores of drivers whose parents drive badly are high, those whose families are not like this have a clean driver’s license. Nearly half of those with bad driver parents had a traffic ticket in the last ten years, compared to only 14% for others. The study once again revealed how effective parental behavior can be on people.

Speeding and road rage are the behaviors most passed down from parents, according to the study.

It was also examined which of the parental behaviors were passed on to the children the most. According to this, excessive speed and aggressive and angry behavior in traffic are the most common behaviors passed down in the family. 55% and 49% of the participants, respectively, stated that they acquired these habits from their parents. Others said they learned things from their families, such as poor awareness, careless parking, and dangerous driving.

Only 10% stated that they acquired responsible behaviors such as driving below the speed limit from their parents. More than half of the respondents also added that they are better drivers than their parents.

Although the research reveals that irresponsible driving can also be caused by families, don’t use this as an excuse and blame it all on your family; because it won’t do you any good when you get punished.
