You Pay Too Much Attention to Cats

Do you remember the times when cats ran away from you when they liked you? This is also one of the biggest arguments of dog lovers: “Cats don't make themselves loved.” A new study has revealed that this is not the case. You pay too much attention to cats.

The reputation of domestic cats among people compared to domestic dogs is that they lack more love. While dogs embrace us lovingly, we can only show cats as much attention and love as they allow.

In fact, the reason for this has been scientifically revealed. Studies have shown that the reason why cats tend to avoid love so much is that people love and care too much about them.

‘Experienced cat owners’ do this more than normal people

The new study involved three unfamiliar cats and approximately 120 volunteers, each given five minutes. Each volunteer was asked to pre-fill a questionnaire assessing their personality and experience with cats.

In addition to being told to allow the cats to approach the animals around them instead of following them, the experimenters were encouraged to interact with the cats in the experiment as they would with the cats they might normally have at home.

The researchers found that people who rated themselves as more experienced and understanding with cats showed affection for cats from the tail, legs, back, and abdomen. These are areas where cats typically dislike being petted.

However, they observed that people who did not have cats before were more cautious about cats and showed as much love and attention as the animal allowed it. The responses of the cats to the two different types of approaches were as you can imagine.

While the released cats are more self-loved, the cats that are drowning in love are avoiding attention. What are you thinking? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
