Officially acquired by Elon Musk in September 2022, Twitter also hosted many controversial changes. But chief among these were the changes to the blue tick, which have been subjected to months of constant testing, making Twitter feel like a toy.
After all these discussions, the blue tick has now turned into a badge given only to Twitter Blue subscribers (except for accounts that Elon Musk likes). While this situation has made it even more difficult to distinguish between real verified accounts and accounts with blue ticks, today, a new solution has come to this situation.
The date when the accounts received a blue tick can now be seen on Twitter:
With only one line added to Twitter profiles, the reliability discussions of the accounts were largely resolved. Now, the date that an account was first approved, that is, the first time it received a blue tick, appears on the account page.
Access to this information is provided in a way that causes the discussions to continue. Users who want to know how long an account has been approved have to enter that account’s page and click on the blue tick badge.
Of course, this measure is not enough for us to distinguish between fake and real accounts on the Twitter homepage. But at least we had the opportunity to get a clue from somewhere.
