Social media, content and content consumption habits, which have evolved into short videos since TikTok’s debut, have also intensified the race between platforms. Platforms, which want to attract more content and therefore more users, constantly offered new lucrative programs for content producers.
YouTube, which has been offering a partner program for video content since 2007, announced a new program today. This program, which is exclusive to users who will produce content for YouTube Shorts, will provide content producers with more money-making opportunities and special opportunities.
45% of revenue from ads shown among Shorts will go to content creators:
With the new program, which will be a part of the YouTube Partner Program, creators will be able to save 45% of the revenue from the ads shown among the Shorts content to their wallets. Payments will be made on a monthly basis. But this will not be the only plus of the program.
YouTube will also release the use of copyrighted music in the content. Content producers participating in the program will be able to add copyrighted music to their content. If they have not paid a royalty fee for these music before, some deduction will be made from the income they will get from the advertisement and this deduction will be transferred to the right owner of the music. In this way, content producers will continue to make money from content that they cannot actually make money due to copyright.
However, content producers will be able to use the music by paying royalties to use popular and copyrighted music through Creator Music. If the royalty fee is not paid for the music, the situation we mentioned above will apply.
In addition to all these, content producers will also be able to benefit from features such as Super Thank You, Super Chat and Super Stickers and channel memberships.
So when will the program come out? Who can apply?
While YouTube did not give a clear date for the new program, it only announced that the program will debut in 2023. The conditions that must be met to apply for this program are to have at least 1,000 subscribers and to have gained at least 10 million views in the last 3 months.
