Xiaomi engineers used a MIDI file that the robot could parse into drum beats. Based on this data, CyberOne was able to move its entire body in a coordinated manner in sync with the music.
Successfully keeping up with the rhythm
The released footage shows CyberOne keeping up with the rhythm quite accurately, using not only sticks in hand, but also feet and pedals of the instrument. However, it is still far from the desired level, as it acts according to a pre-built algorithm instead of real-time adaptation.
Let’s remind you that Xiaomi’s humanoid robot is valued at about $100,000. But the Chinese company has no plans to commercialize or mass-produce the robot yet.
