Xiaomi, which has been gearing up in electric car production for a while, has also completed its preparations for its factory. While production will be carried out under the Xiaomi Automobile sub-brand, the construction status of the first factory in China was also viewed from space.
Xiaomi will produce 150 thousand vehicles per year in this factory
The factory, located in an industrial park in Beijing, the capital of China, spreads over an area of 720 thousand square meters after the completion of its first phase. The images show that six main workshops have been built for battery, assembly, painting, body, die casting and stamping functions.
In addition to the production facilities, the site also includes a vehicle test track, laboratories and office buildings. The first phase has an annual production capacity of 150 thousand units.
Xiaomi started construction of the factory in April last year and completed the first phase last June. We know that the factory has been carrying out prototype work in production for several months. Reports indicate that mass production preparations are continuing, with 50 vehicles being assembled per week.
Xiaomi hired approximately 100 personnel for the factory in August. Full-scale hiring is expected to begin late this year or early next year to start mass production. However, we should point out that the facility has not yet received approval from the Chinese government and negotiations will be completed by the end of the year.
Xiaomi’s first electric car MS11; It will leave the factory line after the permits and preparations are completed. The vehicle, codenamed Modena, powered by a 101 kWh battery, is planned to have a very competitive price of 27 thousand dollars.
