The location is the Urumqi-Sanci inter-city highway, where Xiaomi carried out high temperature tests for the vehicle. Recently, Xiaomi has left its mark on the domain name world by acquiring the domain name XiaomiEV.com. When the company made its debut in the EV business in early 2021, Xiaomi quickly reassured, as most people were skeptical that a tech company with another field was entering uncharted territory. Lei Jun (CEO of Xiaomi) stated at an investor conference that Xiaomi’s electric car is ahead of schedule. It also promised that the vehicles will be available by the first half of 2024.
Xiaomi is not only moving towards the deadline, but also looks ahead of it. So much so that Lu Weibing, who holds the reins of Xiaomi’s international trade, said that the progress was beyond expectations.
Details of the Xiaomi MS11 battery were leaked in June. This electric beast will have a long-range version with a 101 kWh triple (NMC) battery. It promises a range of 800 km and is built on 800V architecture. The energy density is 157 Wh/kg, which is a pretty average figure. While everyone was betting on CATL as a battery supplier, Xiaomi quickly partnered with both CATL and CALB.
As for cost, the MS11 sedan is set to compete with big fish like the Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal, Deepal SL03 and some other Chinese EV sedans. This puts it in a rather controversial price range of RMB 200,000 (around €25,500).
