Technology giant Xiaomi is preparing to enter the electric car industry. Xiaomi Automobile Technology brand, which was established with an investment of 10 billion dollars, put its first electric prototype for a test drive in China. The vehicle, seen on the company’s campus, could go on sale in 2024.

The first electric car of the Chinese technology company Xiaomi was seen at the Xiaomi Science and Technology Park. The published photos revealed how the long-awaited vehicle will have a design. It was reported that the first prototypes of the car rolled off the production line in September.
Xiaomi announced that it started developing its first electric vehicle more than a year ago. According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the selling price of the car will be under $ 40 thousand, and thus it will be offered as a competitor to the Tesla Model 3. Reports suggest that the electric vehicle will be powered by next-generation Qualcomm and Nvidia Orin X chips.
The model, which is expected to be the entry level for the electric car world, is expected to be powered by a BYD LiFePO4 battery and use a 400 V platform. The more expensive model may have an 800 V platform and a CATL Kirin battery. It can also be equipped with a 260 kW motor.
The Xiaomi electric car is expected to be produced on the same platform as other electric vehicles, but with three engines. The company, which is seen as a direct competitor to Tesla, is targeting 2024 as its release date. The Chinese giant has built an electric car factory equipped to produce 300,000 vehicles per year.
The company recently invested heavily in Beijing Weilan New Energy, battery supplier to electric car maker NIO. It is already a matter of curiosity how these investments will yield results.
