Just a few days after introducing the 300W HyperCharge technology, Xiaomi has announced a new breakthrough in battery technology. This time, the Chinese company showcased its solid-state battery technology, which reaches an energy density of 1,000 Wh/L. He placed this technology in Xiaomi 13 with a 6000 mAh battery.
Xiaomi’s solid-state tech will double the battery
The new solid-state battery developed by Xiaomi was tested on the Xiaomi 13 model. Xiaomi 13, which is currently powered by a battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh, can carry a capacity of 6000 mAh thanks to new technology. This represents a 33 percent increase in capacity over lithium-ion batteries, despite occupying the same size inside the case.
The Chinese manufacturer claims that its solid-state battery is also safer. He underlines that, compared to lithium-ion batteries, it will not have a puncture problem and will not naturally pose a risk of short circuit and fire. In other words, the solid state battery offers both greater capacity and greater security.
Xiaomi also said that the new technology provides up to 20 percent more power, even in extreme cold as -20 degrees Celsius. This innovation will be useful for people who use their smartphones especially in cold climates.
Despite the exciting announcement, Xiaomi is not ready to put these batteries into mass production. Although it was used as a prototype in Xiaomi 13, it will not be released to the market for now. It will likely take several years for the company to return to solid-state batteries in its product line.
