Yesterday, Samsung unveiled its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, followed by rival Xiaomi today. The company has introduced the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, which is currently the thinnest foldable smartphone model today.

The main emphasis in the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is on compactness. Because the Mix Fold 2 has completely new hinges that make it possible to significantly reduce the thickness of the device. As a result, the Mix Fold 2 is only slightly thicker than a regular USB-C port when opened. The thickness of the device is 5.4 mm when unfolded, and only 11.4 mm when folded. The weight of the smartphone was also announced as 262 grams.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 features an 8.02-inch 2K Samsung Eco² OLED 120Hz LTPO 2.0 foldable display. The outer screen consists of a 6.56-inch FHD+ Samsung E5 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. While both screens support Dolby Vision and HDR10+, the outer screen has Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Camera developed in collaboration with Leica
Xiaomi has added a single piece of carbon fiber floating plate to the hinge to remove creases on the screen. In this way, when the phone is opened, a flatter view is obtained. The device is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with 12GB of RAM. The main camera of the Mix Fold 2 was created in collaboration with Lecia. The phone has a 50MP main camera with IMX766, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8MP 2X telephoto camera. There is a 20MP camera on the front but no camera on the inside screen. In addition, the phone includes a 4,500mAh battery with 67W wired charging support.
Let’s also mention that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will come out of the box with the MIUI Fold 13 interface and Android 12L operating system, which is specially adapted for foldable devices. It has been announced that the Mix Fold 2 will be available in China on August 16. The global launch and release date is unknown for now.
