Today, reliable leak source Digital Chat Station reported that MIUI 14 will be the “last major release” of the MIUI series. Instead, the Chinese giant plans to switch to MiOS, a completely new operating system. On this note, DCS said, “The core experience of MIUI 14 is already first-class, but dynamic effects are still lagging behind. I hope the new work can completely eliminate this shortcoming. Also, MIUI 15 will not be renamed as MiOS.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of MiOS. Previous reports had stated that Xiaomi was working on its own operating system compatible with AOSP (Android Open Source Project). It is also worth noting that Xiaomi applied for the domain name “mios.cn” in November 2022. However, the website currently shows a 403 error and no SSL certificate.
Therefore, the new operating system may have been developed behind closed doors for a long time. It is not yet known whether or when MiOS will be introduced.
