According to rumors, Xiaomi’s new smartphones may have an ‘all-screen fingerprint scanner’ that speeds up screen unlocking by eliminating the margin of error. a person from the Chinese national skate database; The Chinese technology giant claimed that thanks to a new fingerprint scanning technology it has patented, the entire screen can detect fingerprints.

According to the patent, which was first spotted by GizmoChina, this new technology involves users tapping anywhere on the screen to unlock their phones. In other words, on Xiaomi’s new smartphones, the entire screen will act as a fingerprint sensor, so users will not have to try multiple times to unlock the phone.

Tap anywhere on your phone screen to unlock the screen.

As you know, the current under-display fingerprint scanner technology requires you to place your finger at a certain point in order to detect your fingerprint. The all-screen fingerprint scanner, on the other hand, will not require touching and holding a certain point for fingerprint detection.

The new skate also reveals how this technology will work. First, there will be several infrared LED light transmitters under the capacitive touchscreen layer. On top of these infrared LED light transmitters, which will be above the AMOLED screen, there will be infrared light receivers.

First, a user will need to touch the screen with their finger to scan the fingerprint on the screen. Afterwards, the capacitive touchscreen will register this touch and control its position and then the shape of the finger. After the infrared light comes into contact with the finger, it will reflect back to the infrared light receivers, and the outline of the fingerprint will be determined using infrared light velocity data.

This will be followed by a comparison between this data and previously registered fingerprint information to determine if the user is the same as the registered one. After the verification process is completed, the user will be able to unlock the screen of the smartphone by touching any part of the screen.

Xiaomi is not the first company to receive this patent

On the other hand, Xiaomi is not the first tech company to patent the all-screen fingerprint under-display technology. Previously, Huawei filed a similar patent in August 2020, which is valid for many markets including India, Korea, Japan, Europe, China and the USA; however, this technology still maintains its privacy.
