Xbox consoles, which Microsoft has been selling with great success for many years, were literally crowned with the Game Pass system introduced in 2017. The Game Pass system, which was later announced for PC, caused Xbox to change its perspective on games and set up the largest subscription system to date for both consoles and PC.
Xbox, which made a profit of $ 2.9 billion from Game Pass in 2021 alone, seems to continue to “put in the eyes” of this system to users. Likewise, the new interface of the Xbox consoles confirms this.
Homepage like Game Pass ad
The new interface, reviewed by The Verge writer Tom Warren, will be available on all Xbox consoles in 2023. When you look at the interface, which is still in the early development stage, you may have difficulty understanding whether it is a homepage or a Game Pass ad. When you look at the homepage from top to bottom, you can see the most recent games you played in the top row. In this section, there are tabs where you can see your entire library, Microsoft Store, achievements and new games coming to Game Pass.
When we move on to the second part, we see the latest games added to Game Pass. In the third section, you will be able to see the applications you have pinned. Right after this point, you come across sections that you cannot remove or change (at least for now). There are free games from Game Pass, the most popular games, games with remarkable stories, and even a special section for the newly released Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Tom Warren states in his review that these parts cannot be changed at the moment and vary from user to user.
Users who are currently testing this feature state that they have given negative feedback on Xbox’s Reddit forum and that this “ad-smelling” interface should be simpler and more useful. Of course, it should be noted that this interface is currently in a very early development stage and may change completely in the future.
