Age of Mythology, which was released in 2002, is among the games that are actively played even after 20 years. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Age of Empires series, Microsoft gave the good news for Age of Mythology Retold.
Age of Empires series, which first appeared in 1997, is among the few games that have not lost their popularity today.
Age of Mythology Retold will be released in 2023
Released in 2002, Age of Mythology brought a fantastic twist to the classic Age of Empires series with playable cultures based on Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology. In Age of Mythology, players can create legendary units by spending a new resource called ‘favor’, which is earned by praying or honoring a god of their choice.
Age of Mythology made its debut in 2014 with an Extended Edition that adds a host of upgrades, including Twitch support and some graphical enhancements. According to the announcement made today, it will have the Definitive Edition update that appears in the three main Age of Empire games.
On the company’s website on the subject, “Mythology Gods will return. Heroes will rise. Legends will fight. Age of Mythology Retold is in the making! We know the Age of Mythology community is expecting a Definitive Edition, we will honor your request. We are working hard to bring you the glory of the original game with updated graphics, features and more. Stay tuned for more news.” statements are included.
In the same anniversary announcement, Microsoft also announced that Age of Empires II and IV will be coming to Xbox consoles for the first time. All three games will be available to players in 2023.
