Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to VR
Subscribers to Xbox’s cloud gaming network and Game Pass Ultimate will be able to play hundreds of Xbox games in Meta Quest 3, including Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and the recently released Starfield. Check out the video below to get a look at what it looks like.
The future of Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Game Pass support on the Meta Quest platform was actually announced at Meta Connect in 2022, but the company did not share a release date at that time. During this year’s event, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the game streaming service will be available on Meta Quest 3 in December. To use Xbox Cloud Gaming, you’ll need a compatible controller as well as a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It is also stated that the service can only be used on Quests in certain regions. It’s also unclear if and when Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available on the Quest 2 and Quest Pro.
Microsoft has been making Xbox games accessible outside of consoles and PCs for years, thanks to the cloud. Microsoft is developing a dedicated streaming device to move further in this area, but the device has not been officially unveiled yet. This is all part of Microsoft’s plan to reach 3 billion gamers and expand Xbox to more places. Meanwhile, the Meta Quest 3 title will be released in October for $500 for the 128GB version and $650 for the 512GB version.
