Big storms broke out when Blake Lemoine, former Google software engineer, claimed that the artificial intelligence of the company’s chatbot LaMDA was “as conscious as a sweet child”. However, there seemed to be no way to prove Blake’s claim.

But now Google seems pretty bored with these claims. Because it finally launched the AI Test Kitchen application to all users. This application, which first appeared in May, allows users to chat with LaMDA. Users who want to chat with LaMDA must first register at this address. Android users, who will be selected among those who have registered, will first have the opportunity to chat with artificial intelligence.

The move comes just months after the company fired software engineer Lemoine, who claimed that artificial intelligence wasn’t just a chatbot, but rather a sentient being that was experimented with without his approval. The reason for his dismissal was that Lemoine provided documents to an unknown US senator to prove that Google discriminated against religious beliefs. Google denied Lemoine’s requests, and a company spokesperson accused him of “anthropomorphizing” the robot.

Google is wary of this new public test. Rather than open LaMDA to users in a completely open-ended fashion, it decided to present the bot through a series of structured scenarios.
