The world’s most powerful wind turbine
In fact, the Vestas V236, which is an offshore prototype, can generate 15.0 MW of energy when operating at full capacity. With a rotor diameter of 236 meters and a swept area of 43,743 square meters, the largest in the wind industry, Vestas V236 is also the world’s highest turbine with a height of 280 meters. The blade size of the turbine is 115.5 meters.
“This is a big step forward in our goal of accelerating the green energy transition, but also an important milestone for Vestas and our partners,” said Anders Nielsen, Vestas chief technology officer. This turbine is scheduled to be commissioned at the offshore wind farm in Denmark next year. It is also expected to be used on farms in New Jersey and New York.
