While the 360Hz refresh rate is just getting started, even on desktop monitors, Dell Alienware has announced the industry’s first 480Hz laptop. Two new models are included in the AMD Advantage program.
Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2
The AMD Advantage program contains special optimizations for laptops using AMD processors and graphics cards. These include dynamic switching between internal and external graphics cards, SmartAccess Memory that provides full access to Radeon graphics memory, SmartAccess Graphics that offloads certain loads to graphics units, and FreeSync Premium.
The computer market is melting
The Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2 became the industry’s first models with a 480Hz refresh rate. Models that make the images much more fluid also offer Nvidia G-Sync support. In 4K resolution, there is a 120Hz refresh rate option.
17-inch devices include AMD Ryzen 6000 processors and AMD Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, while AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT 12 GB GDDR6 option has been added. The starting price will be around $3500.
