Intel’s recently announced Core i9-12900KS processor has not met the user yet, but it has already begun to break overclocking records. This processor, which appears as a renewed version of the 12900K model, has been increased to 7.45 GHz with liquid nitrogen cooling.
Representing MSI, the overclocker TSAIK that managed to achieve this score only activated one physical performance core (P-core) to achieve this speed. This is a detail that needs attention.
Intel Core i9-12900KS processor clocked at 7.45 GHz
Allen Golibersuch, known in the overclocking world as Splave, had previously managed to reach 7.6 GHz using the standard model (12900K). Let’s go back to our topic, 12900KS: The turbo frequency of the 16-core processor is at 5.50 GHz. In other words, the processor can reach a very high operating frequency directly out of the box.
As a result of overclocking, many world records were broken with the 12900KS in Cinebench, Geekbench and HWBot tests. In the multi-core test performed with Geekbench 4, 100,675 points were reached. Thus, for the first time, the level of 100 thousand was left behind, while the all-time high level of 97.800 was left behind.
The highest score of all time was achieved with the Core i9-12900K. Wondering what the fastest speed ever witnessed in consumer processors is? A little over 8.7 GHz was previously achieved with AMD processors (FX-8150 and FX-8370).
