AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card managed to reach 3.3GHz with overclocking, breaking the world record in 3DMark Fire Strike. The card in question was the Navi 21 XTXH GPU, the preset model built on chips that can reach higher clock speeds.
Overclocking was provided by Team OGS (Stavros Savvopoulos in the foreground) from Greece. Team OGS used liquid nitrogen cooling to reach 3.3GHz and tested the 6900 XT with an Intel Core i9-12900K clocked up to 6.9GHz.
AMD RX 6900 XT breaks new ground with 3.3GHz
AMD’s Radeon RX 6900 XT set benchmark records in Fire Strike, Fire Strike Extreme and Fire Strike Ultra with a total score of 63,361, 40,304 and 19,304, respectively.
Interestingly, this beats South Korean overclocker biso biso’s Fire Strike record, which again reached 62,389 using the RX 6900 XT (XTXH). The previous record was held by Kingpin, which took a very different route using four GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPUs.
However, we’ve seen the 6900 XT reach 3.3GHz before; In fact, Team OGS had reached 3.3GHz in May 2021 as well. The difference in the final test, however, was a more stable overclock, meaning that the card maintained that speed throughout the entire benchmark and managed to score better.
Looking at the Fire Strike Top 10 results, all other cards in the list, except for two, lead as the 6900 XT. Nvidia only sits at number three with the aforementioned quad GTX 1080 Ti and the RTX 2080 Ti at number 10 with dual SLI.
