The next generation of USB-C 2.1 cables may finally be on the way, drastically reducing the time it takes to charge our laptops, smartphones and other devices.
As Tom’s Hardware reports, Club3D is launching a range of USB-C cables that can deliver up to 240W of power, which is more than double the 100W maximum current USB-C cables can deliver.
The newly introduced cables could have big implications for laptops and smartphones that use USB-C for charging. Batteries that can be recharged much faster can make things easier by reducing the time it takes to charge. It can also start to be used in devices such as laptops that need large chargers.
These new cables may also prove to be versatile. The CAC-1575 appears to be a top model, offering USB 4 speeds up to 20Gbps as well as 4K support at 60Hz video.
It is not yet known how expensive these cables will be and when they can be purchased…
