Google dedicates significant resources to analyzing and improving how we communicate via electronic messaging. Thanks to the development of artificial intelligence, solutions such as Smart Reply in 2017 and Smart Compose in 2018 were the first steps in this resource. This year, Google introduced its newest AI-driven feature that lets you create complete email replies at the push of a button.

Replying in Gmail is much easier

Google CEO Sundar Pichai introduced various topics and announcements in the keynote of the Google I/O event, from Google Maps updates to 3D teleconferencing solution Project Starline. On the other hand, a new feature announcement called “Help Me Write” has caught the attention of nearly 2 billion Gmail users.

Google’s previous Smart Reply and Smart Compose features have helped users create basic responses and offered predictive text suggestions since their release. The “Help Me Write” feature expands these capabilities, allowing users to compose and detail an entire message with one click.

The Google developers designed this technology to minimize the time you spend on simple, repetitive messages/replies, routine questions, and the like. With the new icon that will be added to Gmail, it will be enough to ask for the answer in the style you want.

Workspace gets AI in Slides and Sheets

A recent blog post also mentioned this new email functionality and some other AI-powered authoring tools that are part of Google’s new Duet AI for Workspace. Similar to the email writing capabilities of the “Help Me Write” feature, the new Workspace toolset offers users AI-powered capabilities to create text and visual content via descriptive prompts. For example, Duet AI offers new, original prompt-based presentations for Google Slide users. It will help them create visuals.

Sheets users will also be able to leverage Google’s artificial intelligence to simplify their data-centric tasks. Duet AI’s new Help Me Organize feature will be able to support users by automatically creating custom plans to track tasks and projects using the same prompt-based annotation functionality. Users who want to preview these new technologies can register to access these technologies via Google’s Workspace Labs registration page. Selected users will have access to the latest productive AI features in Google’s Workspace
