Apple is expected to release the iOS 17 beta 2 update next week. With iOS 17, a number of new features have been added that strengthen AirDrop, making it easy to share files between iPhone, iPad and Mac computers. Here are the new AirDrop features coming with iOS 17:
1. NameDrop
When iPhone users touch their phones, their contact information is also shared. When two iPhones are held close together, each person’s Contact Poster appears. Users can then select the numbers and email addresses they want to share on their contact card. This feature is also coming to Apple Watches with watchOS 10.
2. New AirDrop gesture
NameDrop also allows users to share content such as photos and files. When the two iPhones are brought closer together, the transfer via AirDrop begins. It is not necessary to enter the sharing menu and find and select the person with AirDrop turned on.
3. AirDrop sharing over the Internet
When AirDrop is out of range in iOS 17, content that is tried to be shared with someone continues to be sent over the internet securely and without loss of quality. The only requirement is that both people log into iCloud.
4. SharePlay over AirDrop
When two iPhones are held close to each other, activities such as listening to music and watching movies via SharePlay are also possible. In addition, developers will be able to integrate it into their applications thanks to the new SharePlay API.
5. Sensitive content warning
For those who want to try a few new features that come with iOS 17, let me remind you that the iOS 17 developer beta can be downloaded for free. The public version, which is known as iOS 17 public beta, will be released in July, as it is every year.
