3. AirDrop sharing over the Internet
In iOS 16 and earlier versions, the device to be shared must be near the device to be able to transfer files with AirDrop. When out of range of AirDrop, the transfer fails and the content is not shared. This can be frustrating when sending and receiving large numbers of files, such as videos.When AirDrop is out of range in iOS 17, content that is tried to be shared with someone continues to be sent over the internet securely and without loss of quality. The only requirement is that both people log into iCloud.
4. SharePlay over AirDrop
When two iPhones are held close to each other, activities such as listening to music and watching movies via SharePlay are also possible. In addition, developers will be able to integrate it into their applications thanks to the new SharePlay API.
5. Sensitive content warning
In the current iOS version, sharing does not occur if the user does not accept the content sent to him. However, there is a longstanding issue with AirDrop; A preview of the shared content is shown whether you really want to see it or not. Nudity and obscene images may be exposed. To prevent this in iOS 17, Apple will automatically blur images sent over AirDrop that may contain sensitive content such as nudity.
