Wintermute transferred over $4 million of Optimism (OP) to Binance shortly before the token unlock.
On-chain analytics platform Spot on Chain reported that Wintermute is selling the assets it carries for $1.63 per OP. On May 31, 386 million OP tokens will be unlocked for early contributors and investors. While the amount of tokens to be released constitutes 9 percent of the total supply, the tokens have a value of approximately 587 million dollars.
Wintermute Currently Has 15.37 Million OPs
Wintermute’s wallet has reportedly transferred 2.651 million OPs worth $4.31 million to Binance in the past 2 days.
According to Spot on Chain, Wintermute has accumulated a total of 21.31 million OPs from Binance and Coinbase at an average price of $1.01. The platform has currently sold 5.6 million tokens for $10.6 million. Wintermute currently has 15.37 million OPs.
Optimism raised $150 million last year in a Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Paradigm, citing $1 billion in fee savings for Ethereum users. According to Crunchbase, Wintermute was among the investors participating in this funding round.
