Microsoft announced that its enterprise endpoint security antivirus product now provides threat and vulnerability management for Android and iOS as well. This new development means Microsoft Defender for Endpoint now works with all major platforms for workstations, servers and mobile devices, protecting them from vulnerabilities, malware or ransomware.
“Threat and vulnerability management in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint continually monitors and identifies affected devices, assesses associated risks in the environment, and provides intelligent prioritization and integrated workflows to seamlessly remediate vulnerabilities,” Microsoft said in a statement.
For personal mobile devices with work profile on Android Enterprise, only apps installed in work profile will be supported. System administrators can activate this feature from the Microsoft Endpoint Manager application if they wish.
For products using the iOS operating system, administrators can provide a vulnerability assessment of iOS versions on embedded iOS devices. Microsoft says it’s not part of this release and that the feature will be added “at a later date.”
