Released last year, Windows 11 entered our lives with important changes. However, the new operating system had some important shortcomings. The Windows 11 2022 update fixes most of the operating system’s shortcomings and promises a more intuitive use.
Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 11 2022 update – also known as Windows 1122H2 – as of today. But let’s say that the company will distribute the updates region by region and the updates will not fall on each system at the same time. It’s a good idea to check for updates from time to time in Settings > Windows Update.
How to download Windows 11 2022 update?
Users currently using Windows 11 21H2 will need to open Settings > Windows Update and select Check for Updates to use, experience, and download the new feature update. It will take some time for the update to reach your device and we recommend that you check for the update periodically.
If you have a compatible device but cannot access the new Windows 11 22H2 version even though you have Checked for Updates, you can download the latest version of Windows 11 from the link below.
You can find the Windows 11 22H2 download link here.
Microsoft announced: Windows 10 21H1 support ends in December
If you’re using Windows 10, you can check if your device is eligible for the upgrade (i.e. if it meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11) using the PC Health Check app. Then you can find out if Windows 11 version 22H2 is ready for your device by opening Windows Update settings (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update) and selecting Check for updates. If your device is eligible and the upgrade is ready, the download/install option will be displayed: If you are ready to install Windows 11, simply select Download and install.
What’s new in Windows 11 2022 (22H2)
The first major update for Windows 11 brings a number of important innovations, especially the Start menu, Taskbar and File Explorer. The Tab feature brought by File Explorer aims to significantly increase the usability of the operating system. Now when you open multiple windows, they will all open in one File Explorer window, just like in browsers like Chrome. In this way, in addition to ease of use, a cleaner desktop will also be possible.
Once again overhauled with Windows 11, the Start Menu is now getting some of the changes it needed from the very beginning. Apps pinned to Start can now be grouped into folders, as on iOS and Android. Again, in this way, both space saving and, if desired, a completely clean desktop are opened. In addition, in the Start section in the Personalization area, options such as standard, more applications or more suggestions are offered.
Important adjustments are also made on the Taskbar of Windows 11, and at the same time, more changes are reported in the future. With the new update, the drag-and-drop feature in previous Windows versions is now back. However, there are still some shortcomings for the Taskbar.
Windows 11 has also received design changes with the 2022 update. Improvements have been made to general animations, icons and many more. The design change on the Task Manager side is one of the first to notice. The vehicle, which has both a dark theme, and now has a completely renewed design. Also, the operating system still has some missing parts for the darker theme, for example Paint. Microsoft states that it continues to work on operating system parts that are not compatible with the dark theme.
There are also innovations in the field of accessibility. The most notable among these is the Live Subtitles feature. The feature, which is available in English for now, will have different language support in the future. Thanks to this feature, any sound played on the computer is directly converted into text. To use the Windows 11 Live Captions feature, you need to enable the feature in Settings > Accessibility > Sound. Alternatively, you can use the Win + CTRL + L Windows shortcut.
Windows 11 2022 Update also includes some improvements to focus and “do not disturb” modes. There is a do not disturb button in the notification panel, which offers more options, and the creation of a focus session can be achieved from here.
Features will come gradually
Although the Windows 11 2022 update has already started, more features will be added to the system during the year. October is pointed out for many features that I can call great. Unfortunately, not all features tested by Windows Insider will be included in this update. But as we said, feature updates in October will focus on these features.
