After Twitter bought 9.2 percent of its shares and became a partner in the company, dozens of question marks arose in users’ minds about Elon Musk. The claim that privileges will be applied to Elon Musk, who is stated to be on the Twitter board, has confused the company.
Speaking about Elon Musk’s Twitter share purchase, company spokesperson Adrian Zamora confirmed that Elon Musk will not receive special treatment, although he is on the board of directors. According to Zamora, Twitter will “adhere to impartiality in the enforcement of policies and rules.”
Elon Musk participating in Twitter management will not see any privileges
Elon Musk, who has more than 80 million followers on Twitter, will not have any privileges in the social network. Stating that they will be impartial in the development and implementation of company policies and rules, the spokesperson stated that Musk will be subject to the same Twitter rules as everyone else.
Also talking about Musk’s influence on the platform, the spokesperson reminded that the board of directors does not have the authority to decide on Twitter policies. However, board members still have the right to guide policy and provide feedback.
Adrian Zamora confirmed that they can ban or suspend Elon Musk’s account if needed. A Twitter spokesperson said:
“Our policy decisions are not determined by the board or shareholders. As always, our board plays an important advisory and feedback role throughout our service. Our day-to-day operations and decisions are made by management and Twitter employees.”
Twitter’s largest shareholder, Tesla and SpaceX CEO, still seems to have a big impact on the company. Although the board does not set day-to-day policies, it is responsible for approving internal decisions and monitoring company performance.
Also, a statement about Elon Musk had previously come from Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal. Expressing that Musk will be a 2nd class manager, the CEO said that they will take company decisions as a board.
But do you think Twitter will impose privileges on Elon Musk? Don’t forget to share your feedback with us on the SDN Forum or in the comments.
