The series seems to have received full marks from the audience at first glance, as it brings a new breath to the universe and has a different atmosphere. The 8th movie, which sheds light on the beginning of the story before the original trilogies, Rogue One was the most unusual production of the series and felt like we were watching a “quality motion picture”. Even though we all knew what would happen at the end of Rogue One, we watched it with great enthusiasm.

When we think of Star Wars, Luke Skywalker, lightsabers, Jedi, power and power users come to mind, but most of these familiar elements are not included in the Andor series for now. Andor series tells about 5 years before the events of Rogue One movie. This new production takes a very different approach.

You can watch Star Wars: Andor, all other Star Wars universe productions, and more on the Disney+ platform.

The cinematographic traces of the Rogue One movie continue in the Andor series.

Soap opera; It welcomes us with scenes reminiscent of the atmosphere and color palette of productions such as Blade Runner, Driver, and Altered Carbon. In the first episode, places that can be found in a dystopian story are opened, and then we move on to the places we are used to seeing, reminding us that we are in the Star Wars universe. In the first episode of the series, we see the Morlana One region, the Ferrix free trade area, the region that we encounter in flashback scenes and the places belonging to the private security company in the Morlana One region.

Stagecraft technology was used in the filming of The Mandalorian. On the other hand, we see that most of the scenes in the Andor series were shot on real sets. Of course, the color palette has a lot to do with the structure of the spaces. Even the colors of the stones and houses in the region where our character lives are used in cold tones. In some scenes, there are also the usual old and cold place breezes in the Star Wars universe. The costumes we have seen so far also bear impressive traces. Some details may change as we will see many different places as the episodes progress.

Beyond the magical world of Disney, a darker atmosphere and a mature story welcome us.

In the Andor series, Disney’s “good always wins” theme and it is far from its magical world; we are witnessing the espionage, action themed story set in a more gloomy, dark and different universe for adults. For now, in the first episodes, we see a private security company affiliated with the Empire and its military-looking employees. Do not look at what we call action, the episodes are quite static and flowing slowly. Episodes are considered short as they average 35 minutes, but since we can’t see the “a” of the action at the beginning, it can feel like it’s taking a long time. Compared to the first two episodes, we watch a few action scenes in the third episode.

The intro is reminiscent of cheap slides made from childhood photos of the bride and groom at weddings.

The intro is simple and underwhelming. Its intro is reminiscent of videos made from photos with fast slide transitions. Better things could have been thought about. In the sections from the opening scene; satisfying, the music meets the course of the story and the scenes. The music is more promising than the intro. We continue to follow the story with melodies that oscillate between mediocrity and perfection.

The characters in the series appear in a very realistic style.

Diego Luna, who played the character of Cassian Andor in the movie Rogue One, plays the same character in the series. We witness what the character of Cassa went through before she joined the Rebel Alliance. Our character is someone who has no trouble taking action, he can take action quickly. We see many characters throughout the episodes aired in the series. Of course, it is not possible to carry all of them to the final. From time to time, we will have names saying goodbye to the island.

No character in the show is pure good or pure evil. Although we do not admire him, there are characters that we can empathize with, who do not appear in a single line. Most characters are independent from the Star Wars universe and have a realistic influence. We do not come across humorous dialogues in the original trilogy. The first three episodes do not include dialogues or sympathetic lines between droids like the classic R2-D2 and C3PO. This gives more focus to the story.

From time to time, you may feel like they added the series between flashbacks.

From the first episode, there is a bridge built between the current scenes of the series and the flashback scenes. Of course, it is a pleasant point of view to include details that we do not know in the course of the story. However, too many flashback scenes can cause distraction from the instant story. Instead, it would be more impressive to include flashback scenes where it is striking and necessary.

It is fair to say that there is no reference to previous productions. The series does not aim to get closer to popular culture such as to make you laugh and to entertain, and only the story is conveyed. Instead, we follow the story of solid and realistic characters.

Although it has positive and negative aspects, a promising production stands before us with the first three episodes. After the Obi-Wan Kenobi series disaster, Andor series seems to be good for all Star Wars fans and heal all our wounds. We will see if the series will always continue in the same tone and speed as the following episodes are published. For now, we hope it doesn’t spoil the quality of the series, and we hope it connects to Rogue One. Have you watched the series? What do you think of Andor?

Episode 4 of Star Wars: Andor will air on Disney+ on September 28.
