Some Samsung fans are still complaining about the lack of a Fan Edition (FE) model among 2022’s Galaxy phones. But it seems that the same thing will not happen in 2023, and the arrival of the expected Galaxy S23 FE this year is almost certain.
As spotted by Galaxy Club, South Korean safety certification site SafetyKorea.kr has published a new entry that references a battery with model number EB-BS711ABY. This also forms part of the rumored Galaxy S23 FE’s model name: ‘SM-S711x’.
For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra uses the model number SM-S918x, while the 5,000mAh battery in the phone has the model number EB-BS918ABY and based on that, we can guess that the battery belongs to the Galaxy S23 FE. Unfortunately, there is no other information about the battery. Previously leaked specs in April showed that the Galaxy S23 FE will come with a 4,500mAh battery.
This development, along with previous leaks, indicates that the phone will be released this year. However, it is too early to tell when that will happen. The biggest obstacle to the phone launching in the next few months is the Samsung Unpacked event scheduled for the end of July. Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, we expect to see the Galaxy Tab S9 series and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 at this event. Since these are the most important devices of the brand, it is not expected that the S23 FE will intervene.
