Smartphone sales fell this year, according to data from International Data Corporation (IDC). Apple, on the other hand, is among the companies that are not affected by this decline. This decline is expected to continue next year. However, Apple decided to make a risky move. Apple, which had ordered at least 75 million iPhones from suppliers in previous years, increased this figure for the first time last year. Despite the signals that sales may decrease further this year, the company decided to take risks for iPhone 14 sales.
Apple takes risks for iPhone 14 sales
Although Android phone manufacturers are selling more smartphones, Apple moved up to second place again last year. On the other hand, the effect of the contraction in the global market is great. Despite this contraction, Apple increased its production amount last year.
According to the leak that emerged this year, the company will again produce 90 million iPhones. In fact, according to the news that appeared earlier, it was said that Apple increased this figure to 95 million. However, according to the latest information from Business Insider, the shipment amount is the same as last year.
IDC, on the other hand, revealed in its research on June 1 that smartphone sales are on a downward trend this year. Accordingly, the global smartphone market is expected to shrink by 3.5% in 2023. Despite all this shrinking signal, Apple decided to produce the same number as last year.
In this sense, it turned out that Apple does not have very negative expectations for iPhone 14 sales. However, despite the expected decline last year, Apple took a big risk. This year, Apple continues on its way without increasing its target. According to the leak from the company, the fact that Apple will produce 90 million iPhones is due to the expectation that iPhone 14 sales will be at the iPhone 13 level.
According to the latest information, Apple is moving to a new strategy with the iPhone 14 series this year. In this sense, there will be a much larger muscle difference between the iPhone 14 Pro series and the iPhone 14 and Max.
Accordingly, Apple will include the A15 Bionic processor in the iPhone 14 and 14 Max models. Pro models will feature the new A16 Bionic processor. It is also among the theories that the global chip crisis had an impact on this interesting decision.
As you know, Apple will remove the notch on Pro models this year. In this sense, the company seeks to make the Pro design different both on the camera and on the front in terms of design.
