Widget Pinning Feature Coming to Windows 11!

Towards the end of 2021, Microsoft brought the widgets that we see on many devices we use, reserved for news and applications, to Windows 11. Since then, users have been asking the company to bring some features to the widgets. One of them was to open the panel to third party developers. This happened in 2022, and platforms such as Facebook and Spotify have their own widgets slowly appearing in the operating system.

The other request that hasn’t come yet was for widgets to be pinned to the desktop. A new report based on Windows Central’s own sources revealed that the tech giant is working on this feature.

It is unknown when the feature will arrive and what it will look like; but said to resemble the “desktop gadgets” in Windows 7

This step to improve the widget experience will now allow Windows 11 users to pin widgets to the desktop. Windows Central says the feature could be similar to the desktop gadgets we saw in Windows 7. This feature, which started in Vista and became popular in Windows 7, was once frequently used by users, although it disappeared in the next generations.

There is currently no information on when the pinning widgets to the desktop feature will debut and what it will look like. However, at Build 2023, Microsoft’s developer conference on May 23, there will be a session dedicated to widgets. Maybe we can learn the details of the feature here.
