READING NOW Why is there still no sound from the application that Apple says will be offered by the end of 2022?

When Apple acquired classical music streaming service Primephonic in 2021, it announced plans to offer a standalone classical music streaming app with many of Primephonic’s best features by the end of this year. However, even though we are in mid-December, there is still no sound from the app, which is thought to be called Apple Music Classical. iOS 16.2 was recently released and there are no signs of the app in the latest iOS 16.3 beta versions. In other words, with the approach of the New Year’s Eve, the likelihood of Apple Classical being a New Year’s surprise is decreasing.

Apple said in a press release in August last year that Apple Music Classical “will combine the classic user interface of Primephonic, which fans have come to love, with more additional features.” The Apple Classical app name was spotted in lines of code in other Apple software.

As 2022 draws to a close, the odds are dwindling. Still, Apple may release Apple Music Classical as a standalone app on the App Store and hit its target date. In another option, Apple Classical can be delayed to 2023.
