Spotify announced its lossless plan “Spotify HiFi” to its listeners in 2021, but the HiFi package is still not available. Interestingly, two years later, a HiFi statement came from Spotify co-chairman; The HiFi plan is definitely coming, but there is no word yet on when it will arrive.Why is Spotify HiFi delayed?
Spotify co-chairman Gustav Soderstrom’s statement is as follows; “We announced HiFi, but then the industry changed for many reasons. We will do it, but in a way that makes sense for us and our audience. The industry has changed, so we have to adapt.”
Spotify employees are known to have been testing the HiFi plan for over a year. According to rumors, Apple Music’s no additional charge for lossless quality music has spoiled Spotify’s plans. Spotify hoped to offer lossless music at higher pricing.
