Half of the screen on iPhones is often accidental and we wonder if it’s a bug or something else. The fact is that it serves a rather practical function.
Aiming to provide users with an easy and practical experience, there are some issues that Apple does not want to ignore. One of them is the reason why the screen is cut in half.
Practical use of the phone is very important for Apple.
There’s one thing Apple always wanted to protect, the phones being easy to use with one hand. In fact, while the phones of other brands reached much larger sizes, the iPhone continued to produce in smaller sizes in order not to deviate from this principle.
As a result, products from other brands started to sell more because people wanted bigger phones.
The company took action for this.
When the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were released in 2014, their size had grown considerably. But as the size of the phones got bigger, it was not easy to use with one hand.
The accessibility feature was designed to make usage practical.
Apple has tried to solve this situation with a feature it calls “accessibility”. By double-clicking the home button, the top of the screen was lowered to the middle of the screen, thus eliminating the problem of not being able to use the phone with one hand. On the phones where the home button is removed, it is necessary to pull the bottom of the screen by touching it downwards.
After the operation is done on the screen, it automatically returns to its place above or scrolls up again when you touch the same place twice. Thus, the problem of not being able to use the phone with one hand is eliminated.
If you don’t like the accessibility feature, you can turn it off.
